Overview

The fourth-generation Wrangler (JL) debuted for 2018 with significant updates over its predecessor. It features an aluminium-intensive body, new engine options including a turbocharged 4-cylinder and a diesel, an available mild hybrid eTorque system, and enhanced technology. The JL retains the Wrangler's iconic removable doors, fold-down windshield, and open-air freedom while adding dramatically improved on-road refinement.

History

The JL replaced the long-running JK generation after over a decade. It was engineered to reduce weight while increasing structural rigidity. The JL was the first Wrangler offered with a diesel engine in the U.S. market. The 4xe plug-in hybrid variant followed in 2021.
